A plug for repairing a tyre has a lengthy body consisting of two elements, e.g. a head and a tail made from mixtures of rubber having differing moduli of elasticity. The head has the higher modulus and can be fitted on a repairing tool so that it can be inserted straight into the puncture. The head may have a hole or a loop of material fixed at the level of or close of its free end. The clamp of a repairing tool is fitted into the hole. The plug may have a blind hole extending axially from the tail and ending in the head. A part of the repairing tool is inerted into this hole. A plug is formed which does not have to be folded back on itself and pulled in with considerable force. The need to enlarge the puncture which is also difficult and time consuming, when there are steel reinforcements in the tread, is eliminated. |
