In a method of heat transfer, a heat transfer medium (e.g. distilled water) circulates in a closed circuit between a location (such as a jacket 2) where said medium is vapourized by a flow (e.g. in a vessel 1) of hot waste water (e.g. from washing machines), and a location such as coil 6, where the vapourized medium is condensed by transfer of heat to service water of a building or to equipment for the heating of a building. The invention also includes the apparatus for carrying out the method. Two closed circuits of the heat transfer medium may be utilized (e.g. Fig. 3) one of which operates at a higher vapour pressure than the other. <IMAGE> |
