PURPOSE:To obtain light propagation device capable of branching and coupling or branching and multiplying the light at a small loss, by disposing two of a plurality of optical fibers in a mutually orthogonal manner. CONSTITUTION:Optical fibers 1, 4 are disposed so as to be orthogonal to each other as shown in the drawing. And the light is transmitted from A in the direction of the arrow, part of the light transmitted from A to B penetrates through a semi-transparent film 7, and is sent into the optical fiber 1 from B to C, while the other light is reflected by the semi-transparent film 7, and is sent to D on a semi-transparent film 8 of the optical fiber 4 from B to be reflected again by the semi-transparent film 8 to be sent into the optical fiber 4 from D to E. Thus, the light propagates through the optical fibers 1 and 4 and is branched. Besides, such branched lights are made to converge by the lens action due to the curvature of the side faces of optical fibers 1, 4, so that the light may be branched or propagated at a small loss. |
