Improvements in and relating to velour fabrics and their manufacture

Velour fabrics such as velvet are known and it is known to provide such fabrics in the form of a web having a plastics film on the surface remote from the pile. Direct application of the film gives rise to disadvantages because of the unevenness of the reverse side of the fabric and attempts to overcome these disadvantages have been unsatisfactory. The invention overcomes these disadvantages by first applying to the reverse side of the fabric a liquid foamed curable plastics material and curing this under tension to provide a flat surfaced open cell plastics layer 3 which acts as an advantageous substrate surface for the plastics film 4.
