The present invention relates to topical compositions having improved antimicrobial effect useful for the treatment of hyperkeratotic skin conditions, in particular on the feet and on other body areas where thick skin is noted and where infections should be avoided. More specifically, the present invention relates to topical compositions comprising a combination of 15-40% one or more alfa-hydroxy acids, wherein the total amount of lactic acid and/or glycolic acid is at least 10% by weight of the composition; 15-40% urea; 5-20% glycerol, and 5-20% panthenol, as well as to a method of treating a subject with a skin disorder, or an open sore, by administrating topically to the affected skin said composition. |
