The pipe section comprises an insulated electrical conductor extending between electrodes carried by the pipe joints. Each electrode is designed to be in signal transmitting relationship with an electrode of an identical pipe section when the two sections are interconnected by their joints. The electrical conductor has a helical form with straight end portions.
