Solar energy collector with pivoting mirror - has hydraulic driving system with reservoir(s) which allows positioning of mirror when power fails

The solar energy collector comprises a pivoting mirror (1) assembly which supports a heater (2) at the focal point and in which a heat carrying fluid flows via its support arms (3). The mirror pivots around the vertical axis supported by a frame (4) ona toothed grown wheel (5) driven by an endless chain (9, 11) from two jacks (7, 8) mounted in opposition. Pivoting around the horizontal axis is provided by another jack (6). These jacks are driven from a hydraulic system whose reservoir (14) supplies the vertical jack (6) when the power fails. A photocell assembly (27) and wind speed sensor (28) provide controlling signals enabling the mirror to be placed in a safe position during a breakdown or during the night or very windy weather.
