PURPOSE:To enable the manufacture of a low-cost curved rack with no restriction to the length by providing a rack piece which has rack teeth on the periphery and a through-hole on the center. CONSTITUTION:The rack gear 1 is formed by combining plural rack pieces succession. Each rack piece 2 is provided with rack teeth 3 on the periphery and a through-hole 4 on the center. The connecting member 5 consisting of round steel, etc. is made to pass through the through-hole 4 with plural rack pieces 2 connected. The mating section between a rack piece 2 and the other rack piece 2 is provided with the section consisting of a concave portion 8 and a convex portion 9 so as to put adjacent rack pieces 2 together closely and prevent plural rack pieces from rotating around the connecting member 5. This rack gear 1 is so used that the teeth 7 of the pinion 6 may engage with the rack teeth 3 of the rack piece 2. |
