PURPOSE:To form a heat insulating side wall of a tank easily by a simple method by foaming a heat insulating material along a side wall of a tank in the upward direction. CONSTITUTION:A closed sliding from 2 is provided outside a side wall 1A of a tank 1 such that the sliding from 2 is parallel-spaced from the side wall 1A. The sliding form 2 is upwardly movably supported on a metal support 3 and a suspension rod 4. In order to start the formation of a heat insulating layer on the side wall 1A, the form 2 is disposed in the lower-most position. A solution of a blowing agent is then injected in an annular space defined by the outer surface of the side wall 1A and the inner surface of the form 2, to subject the solution to foaming so that a heat insulating layer 5 is formed. The formation of this heat insulating layer is carried out gradually in the upward direction. After the foam-molding operation has been completed, foams 2 appear initially in a lower position of the heat insulating layer 5 then in an upper portion thereof. Facing materials 6 are attached, if necessary, to the heat insulating layer 5 initially at a lower portion thereof then an at upper thereof. In the above-mentioned operation for forming heat insulating layer, a scaffold is not required. Accordingly to the above process, a heat insulating layer 5 can be formed in a short period of time and at a very low cost. Since the heat insulating layer 5 can be seamlessly formed, no joint-treating operation is required. |
