PURPOSE:To obtain a carbonaceous sliding material with superior load resistance, wear resistance and sliding characteristics by finely pulverizing a carbon precursor substance to which a solid lubricant for enhancing sliding characteristics has been added, followed by molding and carbonization. CONSTITUTION:A carbon precursor substance obtd. by thermal polycondensation of pitches is finely pulverized to an average garin size of 10mu or less, molded, and carbonized to manufacture a carbonaceous sliding material with low voids and high strength. In this method a solid lubricant for enhancing sliding characteristics is added when the precursor substance is manufactured, or the lubricant and a binder is kneaded with heating, cooled, and finely pulverized, and the resulting binder- covered solid lubricant is mixed into the precursor substance fine powder. The lubricant used may be graphite, molybdenum disulfide, potassium fluoride or talc, and the grain size is pref. made smaller than that of the precursor substance. |
