NEW MATERIAL:Antibiotic AM-630 having the following physicochemical properties: Hygroscopic white needle crystals; wetted at 157-161 deg.C and decomposed with foaming. Readily soluble in water; soluble in methanol and ethanol; insoluble in acetone, ether, chloroform, and benzene. Basic. Positive to the ninhydrin, Sakaguchi, and Rydon-Smith reactions; decolorizing potassium permanganate, H/ N=2.12. USE:Agricultural natimicrobial agents having the activity to abnormalize the differentiation state of elongated hyphae and weak grow suppressing effects on part of molds, effective against plant blights. PROCESS:Streptomyces lavendofoliae No.630 strain (FERM-PNo.4841) is incubated in glucose or an ammonium salt as a medium at 25-30 deg.C with aeration by the spinner method, and the culture filtrate is passed through a cation exchange resin or active carbon to adsorb the antibiotic. |
