PURPOSE:To remove NOx effectively for reduction with the aid of a catalyst having excellent durability by a method in which a waste gas containing nitrogen oxides is mixed with a specific amount of ammonia and then reacted catalytically over a catalyst with a specific composition at a temperature above 500 deg.C. CONSTITUTION:A waste gas containing NOx is mixed with ammonia in 0.5- 2.0mol on the basis of the NOx and then reacted catalytically over a catalyst with the following composition at 500-700 deg.C to reduce NOx to harmless N2. The catalyst contains Ti as the component A, one or more selected from Al, Si, siO2-Al2O3, Zr, Mg, Ca, and La as the component B, and W as the component C, in which the atomic ratio of the component B to Ti is (0.05-0.7):1, and the atomic ratio of W to Ti is (0.01-1):1. The preferred type of the reactor used includes fixed bed type, moving bed type, and fluidized bed type. |
