<p>PURPOSE:To manufacture a caliper body in a simple shape at a low cost, by making the caliper body of a rigid pipe. CONSTITUTION:A disc brake comprises friction pads 2, 3 located at both sides of a disc rotor 1. The pads 2, 3 are moved on guide rails 8, 9 on an almost U-shaped bracket 6 which is mounted on a vehicle body through fitting holes 7. A caliper body 11 is made of a rigid round pipe of iron, aluminum alloy or the like. The round pipe is cut off to a prescribed length. An opening 12 is provided in almost the central part of the wall of the pipe. Arms 14, 15 are integrally provided together with a bridge part 13 on the pipe. A hollow piston 18 is slidably fitted in the arm 14. The outer open end of the arm 14 is sealed up with a plug 20 so that a liquid pressure chamber 28 is defined in the piston 18.</p> |
