<p>PURPOSE:To miniaturize a magnetic card reader while increasing the number of bits of statically readable data, by composing a detection part, which detects the polarity of a magnetic spot magnetized in the thickness direction of a magnetic card, of two specific kinds of magnetic resistance element. CONSTITUTION:To read data out of magnetic card 3 that expressing binary data by the polarities of magnetic spot 31 magnetized in the width direction, magnetic biasing method 2 and two kind of magnetic resistance elements 11 and 12 increasing or decreasing in resistance value according to the intensity of magnetic field components differing in direction used. For example, NiCo alloy, etc., and InSb, etc., are stuck to the top and reverse surfaces of substrate 13 made of SiO2, etc., respectively in thin-film shapes in prescribed patterns so as to form magnetic resistance elements 11 and 12, thereby constituting detection unit 10 opposing to each magnetic spot 31. Then, the potential that corresponds to the polarity of each magnetic spot 31 can be obtained at output terminal 10a by the difference in direction of the magnetic line of force depending upon the polarity of each spot 31.</p> |
