This machine has driving roller(3) mounted above first roll of press section to contact paper on felt(4). A paper machine includes a wet web(12) forming section with a foundrinier wire around a couch roll. To improve feeding of an unsupported wet web from wire to felt a draw roll is located above the corner roll and contacts the wet web on the felt. The draw roll pref. has axially spaced circumferential grooves in its cylindrical surface, is adjustable vertically relative to the corner roll, and is driven by fractional engagement wih web or felt. The improved geomtry result in fewer paper defects caused by the draw roll and reduces machine down time as the draw roll stays cleaner.
