Title compds. (I; R = Me, Et, acetoxy, OH; R1 = halo, alkyl, halo-substituted C1-4 alkyl, NO2, COOH, OH, C1-2 alkoxycarbonyl; R2 = cyano, C1-3 alkoxycarbonyl, C1-4 alkyl, halo, OH, C1-3 alkoxy-substituted C1-4 alkyl, thienyl; X = O, S; m = 0-2), useful as a herbicide, were prepd. by reacting compounds II[one of Q1 and Q2 is H, the other: CHNHY(Y = H, OH, Me, Et) with formylating or aminoformylating agent or by reacting compds. II[Q1,Q2 = :CHOH or CHN(R3)2 (R3 is C1-3 alkyl or forms pyrrolidino, etc. with adjacent N) with YNH2 or by hydrolyzing to give III(Y = H, OH), which were alkylated or esterified to give corresponding compds. (Y = R).
