PURPOSE:To obtain a high quality image especially with a one-component type nonmagnetic developer, by feeding the developer via many protuberances having coating means to developer holding means (developing roller) facing a latent image bearing plate with a minute gap spaced, and applying an alternating electric field to the gap. CONSTITUTION:An interval between cylindrical electrostatic image bearing plate 1 and developing roller 2 is held, for example, at 150-300mum, the relative speed of plate 1 is kept almost same as that of roller 2, and an alternating bias electric field is applied between roller 2 and the backside electrode of plate 1. Means 4 for coating developer 5 is arranged with its face having protuberances 7 or silicone rubber sheet 8 having flexible screen 9 woven of nylon thread opposite to roller 2, thus permitting protuberances 7 or screen 9 to agitate developer 5 and loosen its agglomerate, and further exert effective action on charging of developer 5, and therefore, uniform and even development to be accomplished even using one component type nonmagnetic developer 5 by this apparatus. |
