A cover for tips and filters of tobacco products comprises a paper base and a very finely comminuted powder of shells of tropical nuts, the paper being provided with a coating of a lacquer composition before or after the application of the powder, the particles of powder being firmly embedded in the cover and the majority at least of the particles having portions projecting outwardly from the cover. The tropical nuts may be coconut, Brazil nut, cuhun, or babassus. The cover may comprise an inorganic dye permissible for tobacco products which may be applied to the powder or may also be applied to portions of the cover adjacent to the projecting portions of the particles. The particles may be embedded in the paper or in the lacquer coating.</p> |
