Triphenyl phosphine was prepd. by reaction of phenylalkali and phosphorus trifluoride in the presence of solvent. Thu, phosphorus trichloride 20.0 g was dropped in the phenyl sodium 44.14 g, dispersed in the toluene 200 ml, for 1 hr at 25±5oC. The mixt. was stirred for 30 min and filtered. Toluene which was comprised in the filtrate, was eliminated to give triphenyl phosphine 38.02 g (purity 96.8 %).
