A filter for removing solids from water to be fed to a power-plant condenser comprises an upright cylindrical housing(1) having a radial inlet and axial outlet with a cylindrical filter basket(2) disposed therein. The basket consists of a stack of circular, radially-perforated, metallic rings(3) each of which has outwardly concave sides in axial section and inwardly extending flanges(5) at top & bottom. The flanges of adjacent rings are bolted together for stiffening purposes. A ring or annular disc may also be disposed between these flanges for the same purpose. The rings are stable and self-supporting.
