The invention relates to an actuator having exactly one motor, and to a control means for controlling the actuator. The aim is to provide an actuator that can be used for both a switching and selecting movement in a transmission and for actuating a clutch. For this purpose, an actuator according to the invention comprises at least one transmission, via which the movement of a spindle (3) controlled by the motor is converted from a first type of movement into a second type of movement, wherein a translational movement of a spindle nut (4) is converted into a rotatory movement by means of gear wheels and a shaft wheel, and a rotatory movement of the spindle nut is converted into a translational movement of the switching shaft (7) by means of a transmission gear wheel and a selector cup, and a further translational movement of the nut is converted into an actuating movement of the clutch.
