Vinyl chloride (I), optionally contg. small amounts of comonomers, is polymd. in an aq. system contg. a water-sol. suspension agent in the presence of a water-insol. catalyst, which is solid at room temp. and added to the polymn. in the form of an aq. dispersion with initiator particle size<50 μm. During addn. of the initiator dispersion, the temp. of the polymn. mixt. is between room temp. and a temp. at which the half-life of the polymn. intiator is>=120 min. This method gives a uniform product with few fisheyes, suitable for film prodn.
