PURPOSE:To obtain the titled fibers having improved adhesive property to cement due to the surface roughened by cracklike recesses and useful for a reinforcing cement, etc., by spinnig a mixture consisting of a specific amount of a particulate solid substance, e.g. insoluble in water, having a specific single particle diameter and polyvinyl alcohol, and eluting the additive from the resultant fibers. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous solution of polyvinyl alcohol is mixed with a particulate solid substance, e.g. calcium carbonate, which is insoluble or slightly soluble in water and has a single particle diameter <=10mu in an amount of 0.5-50wt% based on the polyvinyl alcohol. The resultant spinning solution is then extruded through a nozzle into a solution of Glauber's salt (sodium sulfate) and coagulated to give fibers. The resultant fibers are then drawn, heat-treated by the conventional method and eluted with a solvent for the particulate solid substance, e.g. aqueous solution of sulfuric acid, to affored the aimed synthetic fibers, having surfaces roughened by many cracklike recesses without containing the particulate solid substance. |
