The invention relates to an infrared telecommand receiver with automatic signal compensation. The receiver comprises a photodiode (10) for receiving a signal emitted by a transmitter in the form of amplitude-modified infrared radiation with two suitably alternating frequencies, an amplifier stage (15), a peak detector circuit (32-36) and an integrator stage (37, 38) adapted to control a comparator (42). The improvement consists in that downstream of said amplifier stage (15) there is provided an attenuator circuit (22-26), followed by a controlled-gain amplifier (27) in combination with a discriminator filter (28-31).
