<p>A control system for use with dependent hydraulic clutches in which an accumulator valve (22) is used to provide improved engagement characteristics for the hydraulic clutch assembly (10). The accumulator valve includes back-to-back pistons (96, 100) separated by an outer spring (102) and an inner spring (104). Movement of the pistons provides an initial fast fill of the clutches, followed by a period of cushioned engagement, and then complete engagement. The dual spring arrangement provides two distinct periods of cushioned engagement.</p> |
