Polyprenyl derivatives of the general formula:

are disclosed wherein n is an integer of 1 - 5, and R represents a hydroxymethyl, formyl or carboxyl group.
<??>Said derivatives can be produced by cultivation of a microorganism of genus Nocardia. The polyprenyl derivatives in form of a pharmaceutical preparation exhibit anti ulcer activity and may also be used as intermediate products for production of various plyprenyl-compounds.
