Polynucleotides and polypeptides in plants

The invention relates to plant transcription factor polypeptides, polynucleotides that encode them, homologs from a variety of plant species, and methods of using the polynucleotides and polypeptides to produce transgenic plants having advantageous properties compared to a reference plant. Sequence information related to these polynucleotides and polypeptides can also be used in bioinformatic search methods and is also disclosed.

A recombinant polynucleotide encoding a polypeptide comprising a conserved domain comprising 95% identity to amino acid residues 79-147 of SEQ ID NO: 252, wherein the polynucleotide is operably linked to a heterologous promoter, and wherein a plant transformed with the recombinant polynucleotide exhibits an altered trait relative to a control plant not transformed with the recombinant polynucleotide, wherein the altered trait is increased osmotic stress tolerance or improved yield.
