A recombinant polynucleotide encoding a polypeptide comprising a conserved domain comprising 95% identity to amino acid residues 79-147 of SEQ ID NO: 252, wherein the polynucleotide is operably linked to a heterologous promoter, and wherein a plant transformed with the recombinant polynucleotide exhibits an altered trait relative to a control plant not transformed with the recombinant polynucleotide, wherein the altered trait is increased osmotic stress tolerance or improved yield. |
