The present invention relates to an optical fibre connector with a spherical lens (CN) comprising two identical parts engaging with each other to attain an optimum alignment of the axis of each optical fibre (L) included in a fibre bar with the axis of each of the spherical lenses of which it is comprised. The body (C) of the connector (CN) is produced as a single piece in which is machined, on a single machine-tool and without reversing, at least one through-cut hole comprising a plurality of successive cylindrical cavities with various diameters and shapes, without said cylindrical cavities being all of successively increasing or decreasing diameter. To precisely comply with the length of the focal space that must exist between the end of the optical fibre and the corresponding spherical optical lens (L), said spherical optical lens (L) is introduced into the bore provided on the face (FB) of the connector (CN) by applying a controlled pressure to said lens and by limiting the penetration of same by means of a sensor, so that the quartz spherical optical lens (L) does not break on contact with the cone end of the bore, on which it must rest. For the simultaneous fitting of a plurality of spherical optical lenses (L) on the same connector (CN), a special tool is used, the connector (CN) being positioned on a fixed support block subjected to constant suction. |
