PURPOSE:To perform various checks automatically, by holding the screw in a specified attitude, moving the screw, measuring various parts of the screw, comparing the results with reference values, and determining the pass or fail of each measured value at a final point. CONSTITUTION:At a first stage 15, a nominal length detecting part 20 which sends out the signal corresponding to the nominal length of the screw (a) is provided. The detecting part 20 is provided at through holes 21 and 21 provided in side walls 13 and 13. A light emitting means 22 is provided in a groove 12. A solid state image pick up device 23, which is provided with a plurality of photodiode at a specified pitch in the axial direction of the screw (a), is also provided so as to face the light emitting means 22. The measured signal corresponding to the number of the photodiodes shielded by the screw (a) is generated. By appropriately setting the position of the image pick up device 23 which is measured from the top surfaces of the side walls 13 and 13, the measured signal corresponding to the nominal length of the screw (a) can be sent out. Similarly, the head diameter of the screw (a) is checked at a second checking stage 16, and the presence or absence of the thread part is checked at the third stage. Then the final pass or fail is judged. |
