A tread rubber for the remoulding of vehicle tyres is proposed, a detachment of the tread rubber in the region of its side edges being prevented to the greatest extent by providing a band (3) of cured rubber, one side of which is smooth and the other side of which is provided with profilings (5, 6) and which has strip-like extensions (7), the undersides of which lie in the plane of the smooth side of the band (3). <IMAGE>
