<p>A device for use in the movement of furniture or machinery comprises a roller (5) rotatably mounted between arms (11) fixed to a cylindrical body which is rotatable within a correspondingly shaped cylindrical housing (1) provided at its lower end with a plate (3) to be fixed to the article to be moved. A cam follower pin (14) fixed to the cylindrical body located within the housing (1) cooperates with an inclined cam slot (15) in the latter, whereby upon rotary movement of the inner cylindrical body the roller (5) is extended downwards to engage the floor and support the article to be moved. Rotation of the inner cylindrical body can be effected manually with the aid of a lever (7) to which is attached a fingerpiece (8) having an upturned flange (9) which, in the retracted position of the roller (5), is arranged to lie adjacent a vertical face of the article to be moved. The level (7) is located in the positions corresponding to the retracted and advanced positions of the roller (5) respectively, by means of catch portions (17) and (18) respectively. <IMAGE></p> |
