PURPOSE:To heat steel billets belonging to a group to uniform optimum temperature and increase efficiency of a heating furnace by grouping steel billets having fixed specified properties, charging the billets in the furnace making the group as a unit, and controlling combustion and shifting for each group. CONSTITUTION:Steel billets 4 are grouped into A, B, C, D according to sectional dimension, material quality and charging temperature and charged in a heating zone 1A (or 1B-1D). A heating furnace controlling device 7 controls furnace temperature of heating zones 1A-1D by information from a fuel controlling device 5, and gives tracking information basing on information of shifting record from a walking beam controlling device 6 and information from a charging machine 8 and an extracting machine 9. Succeeding groups B, C do not proceed to former zone until preceeding group A is wholly extracted, and billets do not move to former heating zone 1A until all billets 4 of D group are completely charged. The walking beam 2 is operated to avoid presence of billets of different group in a group. |
