PURPOSE:To improve reproducing sensitivity, by reproducing a recording signal through the change in an electric resistance of a main magnetic pole at signal reproduction, in a vertical magnetization recording and reproduction system consisting of a vertical magnetization recording medium, the main magnetic pole, and an auxiliary magnetic pole. CONSTITUTION:A recording and reproducing head is formed with a main magnetic pole consisting of an auxiliary magnetic pole 1 and a magneto-resistance element 6 by clipping a vertical magnetization medium 9. At reproducion, the auxiliary magnetic pole 1 is not used and the reproduction is directly performed with the element 6. Since the interval between the medium 9 and the element 6 can be made to <=0.1 micron, the sensitivity can remarkaby be improved. Thus, the reproduced output can be picked up from an electrode 10 with high sensitivity. |
