1516902 Change-speed control BORG-WARNER CORP 15 April 1976 [5 May 1975] 15743/76 Heading F2D [Also in Division G3] To reduce the load on an engine throttle pedal 44 due to operation of a throttle regulator valve 10, providing throttle pressure 22 for shift control of an automatic transmission on a motor vehicle, and for loading a main regulator valve 14, or for controlling an engine fuel injection system, the throttle valve 10 comprises a slidable outer spool 30 having differential lands 68, 66 to which regulated throttle pressure 22 is applied through a groove 56 in an inner slidable pilot spool 34, moved rightwards against a weak spring 35 by linkage, such as a cam 40, linked to the throttle pedal 44, such movement, through throttle pressure 22, opposed by a spring 36, causing a follow-up movement of the outer spool 30, which thereby regulates line pressure 20, by pots 50, 52, 54 to the throttle pressure line 22, or to exhaust 72, in accordance with the extent of pedal depression. |
