A live roller zero pressure accumulation conveyor has a brake assembly (16) including a rotatable drive shaft (22) surrounded by a tubular torque tube (24) such that the cylindrical surface of the drive shaft is capable of frictionally engaging the interior of the torque tube to rotate it when the drive shaft is rotated, but to slip relative to the torque tube when rotation of the tube is restrained. Clamping means (46) surrounds the torque tube and is movable between a first position in which it is out of contact with the torque tube and the rotating drive shaft rotates the tube, and a second position in which it is in contact with the torque tube to restrain it from rotating with the drive shaft. The conveyor has a plurality of roller sections each including a brake assembly and a trigger assembly (16) for controlling the movement of the rollers (14) in the section. <IMAGE> |
