Drum brake for motor vehicles has at least two internal brake shoes. These brake shoes are arranged symmetrically relative to the support center. Preferably two pairs of brake shoes are used spaced at equal angles. The brake pads(5) are moved radially relative to the brake drum and away from it. The brake shoes are actuated by levers(14) which in turn are actuated by actuators(12,13). Each brake shoe can have its own actuating lever(14).
