PURPOSE:To make a spring light in weight and to shorten the solid length thereof, by shaping the section of a coil wire in a cocoon-shape and by varying the central diameter of a coil continuously or gradually in the direction of the axial line of the coil. CONSTITUTION:The section of a coil wire 1 is shaped to be almost semielliptic on the inside and almost semicircular on the outside, while the central diameter D of a coil is varied in the direction of the axial line thereof. Such a constitution enables the reduction of the number of the eddective windings of the coil and the weight thereof, and the shortening of the solid length thereof, while giving it the spring performance equal to that of a conventional coil spring having a round section. |
