PURPOSE:To provide an automatic document feeder which includes at least more than two document standby portions, from which documents are supplied independently, so that an interrupt supply of a document can be facilitated. CONSTITUTION:An automatic document feeder 4 is adapted to automatically feed and discharge a document P to and from a document table 2. One side portion of the feeder 4 is provided with an inlet guide 5 for supplying the document P manually functioned as a single sheet document standby portion, which is open at the upper portion thereof and U-shaped in section. A cassette 6 functioned as a stacked documents standby portion for continuously supplying a lot of documents P is detachably mounted above the guide. A supply mechanism 7 for supplying the document P onto the document table from the inlet guide 5 or the cassette 6 independently is mounted in the interior of the feeder 4. The supply mechanism 7 comprises the first and second paper feed mechanisms 8, 9. Thus, an interrupt supply of a document can be facilitated. |
