The use of clear vacuum tubes arranged in an insulating matrix provides unprecedented thermal resistance for exterior doors. When hinged to a door-frame with a reciprocal bevel configuration, reciprocal overlap configuration, or a reciprocal dished surface configuration, the door will seat in thermal seal with the door frame. And combining an off-the-shelf motor and gearbox to create a modified latch-bolt mechanism creates an automated seating function. The said motor rotates the latch-bolt against the striker plate cavity outside face, thereby forcing the door to a snug seat in thermal seal with the said door-frame. Sensors will automatically reseat the door as required to ensure continued, optimum thermal seal. And a pick-proof lock is also provided by securely covering the lock tumbler against direct access. A small access port on the underside of the lock cover is provided for a specialty key to access the tumbler, thereby making the lock pick-proof. |
