<p>A parallel wire cable for fastening compliant offshore structures is made up of a bundle (13) of parallel metal wires (12), an internal sheath (15) that covers the periphery of the bundle, and an external sheath (16) that covers the periphery of the internal sheath. The internal sheath is made of a material that is thick enough to absorb a change in the cross-section of the bundle that results from a displacement among the wires when the cable is wound on a reel. The external sheath is made of a corrosion-resistant material. The sheaths may be extruded. The external sheath may comprise metal and plastic layers, a heat-shrunk tube, or bonded-on split sections. <IMAGE></p> |
