The invention relates to an imitation in the form of a shaped article, which has a surface structure resembling that of a natural slate slab. The shaped article contains a plastic as binder. To provide a weather-resistant replacement material for a natural slate which is distinguished in that it is true to shape and has great lightfastness, while keeping the manufacturing costs down, pulverulent aluminium hydroxide is added to the binder as a filler. Alternatively, pulverulent ground slate can also be used as a filler.
