Textiles with an embroidered appearance have the fibres of the borders of openings in the pattern thoroughly impregnated with a binder resin. Pref. such patterns are obtained from a plan cloth by printing the areas to be removed with a matl. capable of destroying the fabric in conjunction with some form of subsequent treatment, drying the treated fabric, impregnating the border areas only of the printed zones with a binder matl. and subsequently dressing the exposed binder matl. with a superficial fibrous flock, and finally applying the relevant treatment, typically thermal, to destroy the exposed pre-printed fabric. The residual, impregnated borders of the openings have a relatively coarse and fibrous appearance reminiscent of embroidered boarders. applicable to woven or non-woven fabrics, e.g. a cotton base fabric was pretreated with a mixture of 70 pts. of a hot soln. of commercial aqueous colloid ('Guaranate' - RTM Soc.Fr.des Colloides) plus 30 pts. of 50% soltn. of sulphate of alumina. After drying the treated borders were impregnated with an acrylic resin on to which was deposited a flock of 1mm long rayon fibres before destroying the residual treated area by exposure to 170 deg.C for 2 mins..
|
