PURPOSE:To accelerate blood coagulation, to improve phase separation between blood-clot and serum, and to obtain pure serum in a high yield, by incorporating a composition composed of a blood-clot releasable, water-insoluble or sparingly soluble hydrophilic substance, a water-soluble substance and an adsorptive inorg. substance in the blood. CONSTITUTION:A blood-clot releasable, water-insoluble or sparingly soluble hydrophilic substance such as silicone oil or wax modified by introducing polar groups such as OH, NH2, polyether, etc., a water-soluble substance such as polyvinyl alcohol, polyvinyl pyrrolidone, etc., and an adsorptive inorg. substance such as microsilica (linseed oil absorption =20-40ml/100g, BET specific surface area =5,000-30,000cm<2>/g, and specific resistivity <=1X10<10>OMEGA.cm) are dispersed together in methanol at levels of >1X10<-10>, >1X10<-10>, and >1X10<-6>g/ml blood, deposited on a carrier such as polystyrene beads, and air-dried. These beads are placed in an examining vessel together with the blood, and centrifuged. Thus, coagulation is accelerated without deposition of blood clot on the walls of the vessels, and serum is obtained in high purity and in a high yield. |
