PURPOSE:To efficiently finish a work to a desired oval shape, by slightly tilting the center line of the fixed work for the center line of a rotary tool and machining the work with the cutting tool. CONSTITUTION:A center line 21 of a tool holder 4 holding rotary tools 5, 6 is tilted by an angle theta with respect to a center line 22 of a fixed piston 18, and the finish cutting tool 6 and the rough cutting tool 5 are positioned on a plane located at a right angle with the center line 21 passing through an intersection between said center lines. Then a slide table 15 is retracted to the right end and the holder 4 is rotated at a high speed by a motor 9. Under this condition, if a cutting feed is applied to the table 15, an oval cylinder of desired oval sectional shape can be obtained by the finish cutting tool 6. |
