<p>To join directly the ends (14,15) of reinforcement bars projecting from the ends of concrete posts (10,11), a device is used comprising an inner body (16) of material which can be caused to spread mechanically. This is done by the primary stroke of a drop-hammer. The body ends are encased initially by two press pistons (18), internally limited by a conical cover surface, the body maintaining the pistons slightly apart. The pistons can be disposed in a fixture (19) covering the post ends. In the final position, the body is deformed and completely fills out the space around the pistons, forming a powerful joint between the bar ends.</p> |
