A power-tool such as the router 10 shown in which the motor is driven at a regulated speed selected by a microcomputer ROM from parameters manually input at 24 such as the cutter size and the hardness of the material being cut, includes a display, e.g. including flashing LEDs at 30, 35, which indicate to an operator whether or not the material feed rate is within the range for optimum material finish. The microcomputer may be arranged to change the selected speed should the loading imposed by the operator cause the motor speed to deviate far from the selected speed. <IMAGE>
