PURPOSE:To enable the valve stopping device to respond quickly for switching the operation of a valve by a method wherein a pressure oil in a high pressure chamber of an oil pressure tappet is opened to thereby release the oil into a low pressure chamber and at the same time, the pressure oil is discharged from the low pressure chamber through a throughhole. CONSTITUTION:The fulcrum of rocking of a rocker arm 21 is supported on a housing 11 through a bracket 19 and the oil pressure tappet. When a cylinder reduction switch 59 is closed, and electromagnetic mechanism 53 is excited and a rod 63 is lowered so that a check valve 51 is opened. At the same time, the throughhole 41 communicating with the low pressure chamber 29 is opened due to the existence of a concave section 65 of the rod 63. As a result, the discharge of the pressure oil from the high pressure chamber 27 into the low pressure chamber 29 is made quickly so that the variable control of the oil pressure is not required and the switching between the operation and the non-operation of the valve is performed quite quickly. |
