PURPOSE:To suppress the oxidation of a thin amorphous magnetic material film and to stabilize magnetic characteristics by forming a transparent substrate, the thin amorphous magnetic material film and the film of metallic oxide into layers. CONSTITUTION:A magnetooptic storage element is constituted of a transparent substrate 1 of glass, acrylic resins, etc., a film 2, 4 of SiO, SiO2, Si3N4, etc. a thin amorphous magnetic material film 3 consisting of rare earth-transition metal alloys such as GdTbFe, TbDyFe, GdCo, TbFe, GdTbDyFe or the like, a film 6 consisting of easily oxidizable metals such as Ti, Mg rare earth metals (Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Y, etc.), rare earth-transition metal alloys (GdTbFe, TbDyFe, GdCo, GdTbDyFe, etc.). The film 6 has both effects for absorbing the oxygen intruding from the outside and the oxygen in the element and the effect as a reflection film which reflects the laser light made incident from the substrate 1 side. The film 2 may not be provided in the constitution. |
