PURPOSE:To raise durability of a magnetic head, by keeping card scanning by the magnetic head for detecting a defective card, at a necessary minimum, and moving forward and backward the magnetic head to the card running surface. CONSTITUTION:A card inserting port 11 is formed in the end part of a frame 1, and a magnetic head 24 for detecting a defective card, card carrying rolls 12, 13, a shutter mechanism 2 and a read/write magnetic head 3 are provided on a card path continued from this inserting port 11. Whether card is normal or defective is detected by the magnetic head 24, and in accordance with its detecting signal, the operation of the shutter mechanism 2 is controlled. The magnetic head 24 for detecting the defective card is linked with an operating mechanism 25 and is moved forward and backward to the card running surface. The operating mechanism 25 is constituted of a solenoid 26, a plunger 27 and a spring 28. |
