PURPOSE:To permit to maintain lubricating condition by a method wherein a head tank is connected to the upper part of an oil tank through a valve, opened upon emergency such as a power failure or the like, and a bearing pad, which is not submerged into oil normally and lubricated by supplied lubricating oil, is sunk into the oil upon emergency. CONSTITUTION:A rotary shaft 1 is supported by the pad 2 of the non-submerged leading edge oil supplying type thrust bearing and the pad 3 of a guide bearing while respective pads 2, 3 are supplied with the lubricating oil from an oil distributing pipe 6 or the like through a cooler 8, a pump 4, a non-return valve 14 or the like. The head tank 11 is connected to the upper part of the oil tank by a pipeline 13 through the solenoid valve 12, opened upon emergency such as the power failure or the like. Under a normal condition, the level of the lubricating oil in the oil tank is located at a position 10a, however, upon emergency such as the power failure or the like, the solenoid valve 12 is opened and the lubricating oil in the head tank 11 flows into the oil tank, the oil level is risen to the position 10b and said lubricating oil is supplied to the bearing pad 3 also, therefore, respective bearing pads 2, 3 are sunk into the oil and the lubricating condition may be maintained even when the pump 4 is stopped. |
